Following its the silver wedding celebrations of the past year with Teatro di Figura, INCANTI continues with its 26th edition which will bring to Turin and Italy unusual performances chosen from international offerings of a genre that on the contemporary scene shows inexhaustible potential.
Puppet theatre aimed at an adult audience is able to stage powerful, profound and contemporary stories, capable of stimulating thought, arousing feeling and causing amazement, while both amusing us and sensitising us to themes of our time.
The three-year travel theme of the festival continues, taking the idea of travel in both a broad and a metaphorical sense, and ranging from classical mythology to the concept of virtual travel through technology, art and innovation. Incanti will also undertake a variety of projects related to its other vocation: the approach to formation and production, addressed to new generations. The first result of the renewed Cantiere project started last year continues with the collaboration of major figures in
the Italian puppet theatre. This will involve the Incanti Pip-Production Project and the Accademia project, which will bring together some of the world’s most famous schools of Puppet Theatre.
Many countries will be represented at this edition, such as Peru, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, as well as Italy and there will be a focus on the French Puppet Theatre supported by the Foundation Nuovi Mecenati. Other significant events include a tribute to one of the father of the Italian Puppet Theatre, Guido Ceronetti, in collaboration with the Study Centre of the Teatro Stabile and the Foundation Circle of Readers, and finally, the usual encounter of Puppet and Cinema in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum and Asifa.
We express our thanks to the institutions that continue to believe in INCANTI: the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Regione Piemonte, City of Torino, the Compagnia di San Paolo, the Fondazione CRT, the Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati, the Municipality of Grugliasco and the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo as well as to all the institutions which accompany us from the beginning, the Education Department of the Castello di Rivoli - Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Cinema Museum and the Fondazione Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani.
