The name Medea comes from the Greek verb médomai, ‘to meditate on a project, to prepare, but also “to plot”.

The scene takes place entirely in a ‘kitchen’, where tools and food become the expressive medium of our object theatre. We are going to explore the myth of Medea in a new and compelling way.
In this journey, we will focus on how the influences of Pasolini, Gadamer and feminism can enrich our interpretation of the character and her inner world. The myth of Medea deals with universal themes that continue to arouse interest and debate in our modern times. The story of Medea, a woman abandoned and betrayed, who faces abuse and discrimination, is steeped in tensions and contradictions that require deep and sensitive analysis. Her complex character and her struggle for recognition and justice make her an emblematic figure of the human condition and women’s struggles.

Médomai aims to transport the audience into Medea’s inner world through the use of food as a symbol and metaphor for her emotions and experiences. Each ingredient, each dish prepared, tells a part of her story and her inner torment. By using object theatre as the main expressive language, we intend to involve the audience in a multi-sensory and participatory experience that stimulates the mind and senses.
The kitchen, the central setting, becomes a symbol of prison and limitation, but also of creation and feminine power. Food as nourishment that women dispense, from birth through breastfeeding, with their breasts, which are also an object of seduction. Food as a weapon of power, against and over women. Can we still evoke questions without dispensing answers?
