Isabel Allende wrote: “At a certain point I realized that one comes into the world to lose everything”.
What happens to us when we lose something or someone we hold dear?
It’s what Louis has to face when he wakes up in the middle of the night. After going through disbelief, doubt, fear, panic, Louis searches for a solution. His is the story of finding a new balance after a loss. The show was born from a research on phantom limb syndrome as a metaphor: continuing to feel even what is no longer there, who is no longer there.
Phantom limb syndrome as a metaphor for another dear theme: continuing to feel even what is no longer there, even those who are no longer there. Furthermore, connecting this theme to the broader theme of the body can open up a research that seems to resonate in the contemporary world, in the times we are going through after years of health emergency, times in which the theme of the healthy or sick, complete or amputated body (in terms of loss of something/someone) is no longer the great absence or the great repressed but has returned to impose itself strongly on our attention.
