A singer mysteriously loses her voice and can no longer perform. A silenced secret burns inside her. And yet, she’s not alone: an exuberant and determined Edith Piaf is there to pull her out of bed and back into life.
The unlikely duo evokes a collaboration of solidarity and tenderness, setting off together on a journey full of grandeur and vulnerability, pain and victory, competition and compassion.
Yet the only way to free themselves and others from a disturbing past is to revisit it. To dare, to touch and to expose the truth. To tell a story of survival through art in the most physical sense imaginable. Once again, they will face the demons lurking nearby – and those deep within – until a new, undeniable voice is born.
Yael also has a painful secret burning inside her, a traumatic event that caused her to lose her voice and prevented her from performing. Rescue comes in the form of Edith Piaf, whom we meet in the form of a particularly well-designed foam doll that Yael elegantly and energetically brings to life. Edith helps her find her voice again, get back on her feet and find a foothold in life once more.

Edith and Me is the third part of a trilogy that he has been developing for 15 years, addressing the issue of violence against women and children. In this final chapter, he can finally highlight the main journey: that of healing. The show is virtuous, touching, delicate and ironic at the same time.

With this show, I decided to do what I have always done in my art and in my life: transform personal pain, trauma, fear, grief, and injustice into art that touches others, telling this story in a way that allows the audience to look inside themselves and know that they are not alone.

To shed light on these issues and encourage dialogue.

This is the true story of how Edith Piaf literally saved my life.
