With many difficulties and adventures Incanti reaches its 28th edition. These complex and mournful years have led us to rethink the festival once again and reinvent it with the help of public and artists. Some new windows, new modalities we have been forced to adopt have become also fascinating paths to follow.
The theme of this edition remains the journey, but declined as a journey beyond, beyond borders and differences.
New for this 2021 edition is the structure of the Festival in three moments: one in October as usual (1 / 7-10), a second in November, with an homage to the relationship between Cinema and Puppetry in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum, and a third in December (4 / 8-12) with a five-day festival finale. This structure has the aim of a deeper inclusion into the theatrical fabric of the city, to allow the participation of some theatrical companies that otherwise would be excluded from Incanti 2021 and, let’s say, to create a bit of suspense!
As usual, there are many appointments: a focus on contemporary Spanish Puppetry thanks to the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, with 4 major companies that use different languages and are influenced by interesting fields like dance and circus. Furthermore the program includes a glance at contemporary Italian puppetry with 5 young companies finalists of Incanti’s Cantiere Project that arrive at the conclusion of their work, and finally, some masters of European Puppetry such as Agnes Limbos, Giulio Molnar and Claudio Montagna.
As always, the program includes also a series of collateral activities, which are now fundamental and characterizes the festival, divided in:
-Behind the stage, a project to discover puppetry born last year and now realized thanks to UNIMA Italy.
-Dialogues with, in which young emerging companies meet the public ONlive and chat about theater
–Scrivere con il Teatro (Writing with Theatre), in collaboration with Scuola Holden, a workshop about writing for the theater as a way of reflection, a sort of diary for enchanted spectators.
-An image for Incanti in collaboration with the International School of Comics of Turin.
And many other initiatives thatwhich you will discover browsing the program.
Finally, as always, Incanti thanks to all those who follow us with passion, to the organizations that support it and believe in the value and function of a festival like this.
