Shadow Theatre Workshop with Ingo Mewes, teacher and object builder from the Department of Puppetry at the Berlin Acting School "Ernst Busch"

In collaboration with Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Education Department, Goethe Institut of Turin and Torino incontra Berlino

In 1999 Ingo Mewes built a spectacular inflatable cupola fort the production Der standhafte Zinnsoldat for the puppet theatre of Meiningen in Germany, directed by Tobias Lehmann. This cupola was stage and auditorium at the same time and offered many different possibilities for projections of shadows in the space.
For Incanti Festival Ingo Mewes will present a new version of cupola to find out together with the participants of the workshop the theatrical potential of this projection cupola. Participants can experimet with internal and external light and different perspectives. Togehther they will built suitable objects for shadow theatre and learn something about construction of inflatable spaces and about all questions of security.

Since 20 years Ingo Mewes works in the field of Puppetry. He found his main interests in building and create new mechanical forms for puppets and objects. One of his prominent puppets was a life-size marionette of the German dancer Gregor Seyffert for Olympics in Atlanta 1996.
Since 2004 he is leading the workshop of the Berlin acting school Ernst Busch.
